Step by Step Instructions
Get a bead. The color doesn't matter. Take the hot glue gun and put glue on one of the ends of the bead. Make sure to leave the opening of the bead clear of glue. Take the Polystyrene ball or the Ping Pom Ball and glue the bead to it. Let the bead dry on the ball for five minutes. After the bead is dry, take the ire and loop it through the bead. Try to make a circle and twist the open ends of the wire into the circle your creating. Next lay the paper plate down in front of you or open the garbage if your going to use that. This is for catching glitter. You can also use newspaper if you have it. Then open the Mod Podge and get the brush. Using the brush dip it in the Mod Podge and paint the Polystyrene ball or the Ping Pong ball (depending on which you used). Make sure to paint the entire ball including the bead. Using the glitter, sprinkle it over the plate or whatever covering you put down and turn the ball completely around until covered. Give it an hour to dry. Then apply another layer of Mod Podge until the ball is totally covered. Allow the ball to dry over night. This will seal the glitter on to the ball. Take the pipe cleaner and a pair of scissors and trim the excess pipe cleaner. Try not to cut the wire. Trim on all sides. Fold the trimmed pipe cleaner in half and cut it with the scissors. Next, take one of the halves of pipe cleaner and fold it and then cut it in half. After this fold the piece in half again and cut it again. Repeat the above two steps of folding and cutting the second half of the pipe cleaner. There should be at least six pieces when you are done. Trim four of the sticks a little shorter. About an inch or two shorter. Then take one of the shorter pieces and put it underneath the longer piece (like a cross). Start at the top of the longer piece and make sure that it is two or 3 inches down from the top. Take the shorter piece and fold the right side to the left and the left side to the right side. Criss cross the shorter piece onto the longer piece to create an antler. Use another short piece and place it about an inch or two underneath the first piece. Now you have on antler. Repeat the process until you have the second antler. Take each antler and bend the end the stems backwards to form an L type shape. Before gluing the antlers on, take one of the antlers and place it about an inch apart and an inch forward from the glued on bead. Play around with the look until you have found the best spot for the antlers. Using the hot glue gun, put glue at the end of the part bent backwards and place them one at a time on the reindeer's head. Wait about two minutes before continuing. Now take a sharpie or a medium black marker and draw eyes on the reindeer. Get a red Skittle and using the hot glue gun, place it on the face a little underneath the eyes. You can use the Skittle with out glue to first choose a location. Let the nose dry for about two minutes. Finally, take the red fingernail polish and paint the nose. It will make is shiny and bright as the glitter. Wait a minute to dry and you can hang your ornament. These reindeer ornaments are pretty and inexpensive to make. They are fun to do by yourself or you can get the whole family involved and each of you can create these as a keepsake to display on your tree year after year. And because they are homemade, they will out shine any store bought ornaments just by their uniqueness.
